Our Priorities
Our priorities are rooted in the belief that true excellence is built on a foundation of unshakeable confidence. By embedding ‘Total Participation’ across our curriculum and through incredible super-curricular opportunities, we are committed to ensuring students become not only academic achievers but also citizens with the character, enterprise, and confident communication skills to navigate and lead in a complex world.
We are dedicated to securing voice equity and critical thinking through research-informed teaching and extensive super-curricular opportunities, empowering every student to articulate their ideas with clarity and conviction, express their creativity, and widen their horizons.

To translate these priorities into actionable needs that directly support our drive for student confidence, here are specific areas where your contribution will make a tangible difference:
- Confident Communication Initiatives: We are seeking funding to launch dedicated public speaking workshops, debating societies, and rhetoric coaching. These programmes are essential to ensure that every student, regardless of their starting point, has the skills and the platform to articulate their ideas with clarity and conviction.
- Expanding 'Super-Curricular' Horizons: To build the 'enterprising' mindset of an Uckfield ACE, we need to broaden our enrichment offerings further. Your support helps fund guest speakers, university visits, and high-quality clubs that allow students to explore their passions outside the classroom, building the self-belief that comes from mastering new challenges.
- Removing Barriers to Participation: True confidence comes when students feel they belong in every space. We require additional hardship funds to provide bursaries for essential equipment, technology, and travel grants. This ensures that every student can fully participate in our curriculum and enrichment activities without the anxiety of financial limitation.
- Mentorship and Career Pathways: We are building stronger partnerships with local businesses and professional organisations to provide real-world work experience. Investing here allows us to facilitate meaningful mentorships that connect students with industry leaders, helping them visualise and claim their place in future top-tier careers.
- Performing Arts for 'Belonging by Design': We are launching transformative music-based programmes—such as the Multi-Generational Choir and Family Guitar Jams—to grow community cohesion and student confidence. Your support provides the vital resources needed for these inclusive spaces, ensuring that every student, particularly those with SEND or attendance challenges, has a platform to find their voice, build social capital, and experience a true sense of belonging within the Uckfield College community.
Donor support to our unrestricted fund helps us offer this transformative education to more students: it supports all that we do and make possible for our students.
To offer the academic, pastoral and cultural, artistic and sporting super curricular support we believe our students deserve, costs in excess of £750,000 more per year than we receive from the Department for Education.
