Employers and Further Education Providers

Who Supports Our Careers Programme?

At Uckfield College, we are incredibly fortunate to benefit from a vibrant, diverse, and supportive business community, alongside a growing network of accomplished alumni. These individuals and organisations play an essential role in enriching our Careers Programme, offering guidance, inspiration, and real-world experiences to our students through work experience placements, career events, and ongoing mentorship.

Our Supporters

We are proud to work in partnership with a wide range of local, regional, and national employers, universities, apprenticeship providers, and training organisations. These valued partners actively support our Careers Programme in many ways, from hosting students for work experience to attending careers events and sharing their professional journeys.

Uckfield College Annual Careers Fair

Held every March, our Annual Careers Fair continues to grow in scale and impact. Over 50 organisations participate each year, bringing a wide range of opportunities and career paths to life through engaging, interactive stalls.

The Careers Fair offers students the chance to meet employers, explore university and apprenticeship options, and gain invaluable insights into the many routes available after school. The event is consistently praised for its dynamic atmosphere and inspiring presentations.

Work Experience

Work experience is a cornerstone of our Careers Programme. We run placements for both Year 10 and Year 12 students, and we are immensely grateful to our business community for their ongoing support in providing high-quality, meaningful placements.

These opportunities allow students to explore different career paths, build confidence, and develop essential employability skills. Feedback from both students and employers consistently highlights the positive impact of these experiences.

Testimonials and  Podcast Feature

In March 2025, Stephanie Aguilera, our Aspirations Leader, was invited by the Uckfield Chamber of Commerce to appear on the Uckfield Business Podcast, where she was joined by two Sixth Form students. Together, they shared insights into how our Careers Programme, supported by local businesses and alumni, empowers students and prepares them for the future.

The Importance of Professional Networking

Professional networking remains as vital today as ever—playing a key role in shaping career journeys and unlocking future opportunities. For our students, building these connections can offer a wealth of benefits, including:

  • Opening doors to new career and educational opportunities

  • Exchanging ideas and contacts that can support personal and professional growth

  • Connecting with professionals across a range of industries and at different stages in their careers

  • Exploring diverse industries, professions, qualifications, and pathways to make informed choices about the future

  • Gaining valuable insight into recruitment processes and understanding what employers look for

  • Broadening horizons and increasing awareness of emerging roles and career fields

  • Enhancing social confidence and well-being by engaging with a wider professional community

Networking not only supports career development—it inspires aspiration, builds confidence, and helps students see what’s possible.

As well as this, I have also been able to gain more information about what to put on my CV and what not to put as well as what will help make my CV stand out compared to others."

"I gained a lot of insight from meeting with professionals and discussing their career journeys. It also made me realise there are many more ways to get where I want to go than I was previously aware of."
