GCSE Options
Our model involves students selecting their Options subjects in Year 8, ready to start at the beginning of Year 9.
We have developed a very strong curriculum model that enables the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum to be covered in Years 7 and 8, and for students to continue with a broad and balanced curriculum as they move into Year 9, whilst also being able to tailor subjects to their particular interests.
The vast majority of our students will complete ‘pathway A’ route, involving taking a Modern Foreign Language, plus History or Geography, plus two additional subjects of their choice. As a large school, we are able to offer an exciting range of subjects which students find motivating and inspiring as they begin Year 9. For more detail, please see our Options Booklet.

Options booklet containing the Options form and information about all the courses published on the website and given out in PDT. |

Week beginning 12th January 2026 |
Life Learning lesson on Option choices. |

Wednesday 14th January 2026 |
Deep Learning Day - Taster sessions in new subjects. |

Thursday 22nd January 2026 |
Parents’ Evening with your subject teachers. |

Thursday 5th February 2026 |
Options Evening, where you will have a chance to find out more about the process and the courses available to you. |

Friday 27th February 2026 |
Deadline for Options Form to be submitted to your form mentor. Please make sure you meet this deadline. |

March/April 2026 |
A number of students may be invited to see a member of the leadership team to clear up any problems and to check that the choices you have made are appropriate for you. Your parents will be involved in these discussions. |

June 2026 |
Students’ options are confirmed in writing to parents. |
