Uckfield College students celebrate GCSE and vocational exam success!
There was plenty of happiness as students at Uckfield College opened their results this morning. The long wait was over and many students were rewarded with fantastic grades after their immense hard work. Once again, students at Uckfield College responded to the significant challenge of GCSE and vocational exams, and collectively achieved another excellent set of results, with some incredible individual successes.
A significant number of students made exceptional progress from their starting points. We know that success comes in many different forms and are immensely proud of all of our students’ achievements. Overall, 22% of all grades were 7-9 (A*-A); 56% of all grades were 5-9 (A*-B); 75% of all grades were 4 or higher (A*-C). Particular reference has to be made to the 108 grade 9s achieved by Uckfield College students across 20 different subjects. This represents an increase on last year of 35%. These elite grades are incredibly hard to achieve and are only awarded to the very highest performing students nationally, reflecting hard work, high aspirations and quality delivery of teaching.
Sara Marshallsay, Principal, said, "Many congratulations to all of our students! It was such a pleasure to see so many of them delighted with their achievements this morning, especially as many of them have faced significant challenges over the last few years and have developed great personal skills and positive attributes in addition to their academic achievements. Thank you too to all the Uckfield College staff, who have worked with and taught this year group throughout the years they have been with us, and, of course, to all of the students’ parents and carers for their support. I have no doubt that these young people will go on to achieve fantastic things in the future. We are all looking forward to many of them continuing at Uckfield College in the Sixth Form, and wish those who are moving on all the very best for the next chapter in their lives."
Simon Webster, Deputy Principal, said, "We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and their impressive achievements. They have faced numerous challenges with resilience and a positive attitude, providing them with results that will stand them in good stead for the future. Their success across a wide range of subjects highlights the strength and effectiveness of our broad and rigorous Key Stage 4 curriculum. Most of our students have secured grades that will open doors for them throughout their lives and we could not be prouder."
